The Bournemouth School of English is in the centre of town, only a short walk from the beautiful beach, the famous gardens and the busy shopping centre. The school was established in 1985 and is proud of its long history, as well as the success our students regularly achieve.
The school was originally set up by Janet and Betty but is now owned and run by Emma and Mark. Emma is the Director of Studies, while Mark is the School Principal.

Both Emma and Mark teach regularly so they can keep a close eye on your progress. This also means that you are always able to speak directly to them if you have a question or problem.
Our courses cover all aspects of the English language: Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening as well as grammar, pronunciation and more general communication skills. You'll also be encouraged to tell us what you are interested in studying so that our teachers can incorporate this into their lessons.
Morning classes run from 9.30am until 12.30pm; afternoon classes from 1.45pm to 4.45pm, and each session is divided into two lessons. Students take an entrance test on the first day at school to help us decide what class would be best.
Of course, English is the only language spoken in the classrooms - you can only learn English if you are constantly using it and we do not allow any other language to be used even in classes where all the students may have the same mother tongue.
Every student leaves The Bournemouth School of English with a diploma of achievement but we also prepare our students for ESOL examinations offered by the University of Cambridge. These exams are internationally recognised qualifications and are extremely popular with our students.
Our teachers have a thorough knowledge of the exams and what is required. We are extremely proud of our students' success in these exams.
Our teachers are all native speakers and have been chosen not only for their qualifications but also for their enthusiasm, rapport with their students and an ability to make language learning fun.
With this as our goal, we try to create a feeling of "family" at school; a place where students are not worried about asking questions and feel comfortable enough to use their English on a daily basis.
